Conceived within severe suburban planning constraints and zoning requirements, SKYlofts provides a vision for a way of living that engages the individual and celebrates the opportunities of architecture. Regarded as a manifesto to urban living, SKYlofts unifies light, landscape, density and community in a modern multi-family residential project located on the edge of downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The project contains twelve lofts, of which seven interweave living and working by incorporating professional offices with public access in their lower levels. Each unit has a balcony, a double volume vertical circulation space, and a roof deck spa, allowing the opportunity for living on the roof. Shared courtyards create semiprivate spaces that engender a community experience, while the strong street edge and glass openings to the street reinforce the connectivity to the neighborhood. Views are expansive, access to downtown is minutes away on foot and the idea of modern living is realized.
